Women empowerment is one really key aspect of this foundation. We understand the struggles women have to go through to make ends meet, they nearly have to double their efforts and strive twice as hard to get what they want or need. The society has not be very fair on the women, a lot of them lack basic education or skills set to manage and take on tasks assigned; Most times being looked down on or underestimated. We decided to look at how we can add value to the system supporting women. Five tailoring sets where handed to 5 Women to help them fend for them selves and also sustain their lives by providing them steady income. The machines were donated in the loving memory of Hajiya Maryam Md Abubakar and Hajiya Aishatu Bala both Mother and Grandmother of the President JMD Foundation. This is one of many more empowerments we are partaking in.
COMMUNITY SUPPORTWe also supported and donated kettles, Qurans, Praying mats, Water drums for the mosques and prayer houses around the Kanwuri area of Gusau, Zamfara state. A few buildings and Islamic schools were renovated, Painted, doors & Windows replaced or fixed, Celling fans installed and given a new look, to enable the students have a more relaxing environment to study and learn.
Youth awareness program was organized as part of the a campaign to let the youths know that their destinies and future is in their hands. A soccer tournament was organized with slogan “Matasa mu hada kan mu” meaning Youths lets come together, to protect our own and our land. It was also to remind the youths that people that use them for wrong doings don’t really care about their future but more about them selves, hence nothing comes out of supporting or rooting for violence. The 14 Local govts of Zamfara state were invited and participated in the match. Winners got cash price and gifts same as the runner-up and other participants.
